Police are pleading with the public to assist them in identifying a man who was killed in a hit and run accident.
The body is presently at the Lyken Funeral parlour. The accident is said to have occurred Saturday around 03:30hrs on the Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to a police source, the man who was a pedestrian at the time, sustained injuries to his head and back.
The suspect is still on the run.
An eyewitness, who was at the scene of the accident, stated that it was a white car that struck the pedestrian and then sped away.
When Kaieteur News arrived at the accident scene, this publication was told that the deceased did not have a fixed place of abode and would usually wander on the streets at night.
Investigators are now scouring CCTV footage to find concrete information that could possibly lead to someone being charged.
