Even in the face of the Noval Corona Virus (COVID – 19) Global Pandemic that has rocked the world including the Caribbean, the Antigua and Barbuda Rifle Association (A&BRA) last weekend successfully hosted the Royal Air Force Target Rife Club (RAFTRC) team which ended a two-nation Goodwill Tour to the Caribbean.

Their first stop was the ‘Land of the Flying Fish’, Barbados where the visitors won the Team Match 1049.31 to 1125.67 that was tallied by the Barbados Rifle Association (BRA), the match took place at the Paragon Ranges.
The RAFTRC team was met on arrival in Antigua & Barbuda by President of the Antigua and Barbuda Rifle Association Thomas Greenaway, Antigua Team Captain Christopher Joseph and Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Shooting Club, Rev. Olson Daniel.
A Meet and Greet between the two nations was held on Thursday last ahead of competition, Saturday and Sunday at the Crabbs Rifle Range.

When competition got going on Saturday as described by Rev. Daniel, “The day began with very typical and sunny conditions with a strong enough wind but what was not so typical and ordinary was the fact that the winds were coming from the left. The Crabbs Rifle Range usually has a wind coming from the right from off the sea. The mirage was very shifty and moving in unusual ways.”
Additionally, Rev. Daniel informed, “When we began the RAFTRC had a total of 11 shooters and Antigua had only 9 so we advised that all 11 shooters would go ahead and shoot against our 9 and at the end of the day we would just subtract the 2 lowest scores from our visitors. But by the time we got to the 500 yards range we had an additional two shooters so we were now evenly balanced going forward. Even though the sun was out in all its glory and the visitors felt the heat they had a good time and they emerged the winners by 86 points and a few V bulls.”
