Regal Masters and Park Rangers recorded victories in the Richard Latif Grocery Store and Car Wash 15 overs softball competition which took place yesterday at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
In the opening fixture, Regal Masters beat Park Rangers by eight wickets. Batting first, Park Rangers were pegged back by some steady bowling from Mahendra Hardyal and Roy Persaud and were restricted for 96-6. Danny Mohanram made 22, while Mohamed Rafeek scored 13 as Hardyal picked up 3-11 and Persaud 2-3.
Regal Masters responded with 97-2 in 10.2 overs. Roy Persaud struck 43 which included four fours and three sixes, while David Harper made 23 with one four and two sixes and Unnis Yusuf 19, including two fours and one six.
Park Rangers overcame Wellman Masters by six wickets. Wellman Masters took first strike and posted 132-6. Rawle Reid stroked two fours and four sixes in a top score of 45, while Wayne Jones made 24 and Ramo Malone 22. Ron Ramnauth captured 3-14, while Shaheed Gittens and Peter Persaud took two wickets each.
Park Rangers replied with 135-4 in 13 overs. Shaheed Gittens slammed two fours and seven sixes in a robust 67, while Mohamed Rafeek scored 18 with two sixes. Reid captured 3-13.
