Cornelia Ida and McGill Super Stars of Canal Number Two have secured their places in the final of the West Demerara Cricket Association
(WDCA)/Beacon Café 50 overs cricket competition following victories in their respective semi final games played on Sunday last.
Cornelia Ida beat Independence A by five wickets at Joe Vieira Park. Batting first after winning the toss, Independence A posted 169 all out in 40.1 overs. Mahendra Dhanpaul scored 27, while Ceenauth Bisessar and Reaz Esau made 25 each. Arshad Azim claimed 3-27 and Naveed Ali 2-8. Cornelia Ida responded with 170-5 in 26.3 overs. Arshad Azim struck an unbeaten 51, while Naveed Ali made 35 not out and Khellwan Tulcan 21. Bisessar claimed 2-19 and Jagnarine Etwaroo 2-66.
McGill Super Stars defeated All Youths Sports Club by eight wickets at Wales. All Youths SC opted to bat and were bowled out for 64 in 25.4 overs. Rickey Persaud and Jadesh Persaud made 18 each as Travis Persaud gabbed 6- 12 from 8.4 overs and Sudesh Persaud 2-9 from three overs.
McGill Super Stars replied with 69-2 in 8.3 overs. Prahalad Singh stroked three fours and four sixes in an unbeaten 45, while Diquan Murray scored 12. Narendra Persaud took 1-10.
