United Stated (U.S.) based student-athlete Joanna Archer continues to make headlines in the athletics arena and last week it was announced that the Monroe College second year student has been selected as the 2020 Atlantic Region Women’s Track Athlete by the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA).

Archer, who speacialises in middle-distance races, came into the National Junior Colleges Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championships with the top individual time in the 400-meter dash (55.72), 600-meter run (1:33.51) and 800-meter run (2:11.06) among Atlantic Region athletes.
Her times in those events ranked second, first and second, respectively, in the entire NJCAA. Archer is also part of the U.S. nationally top-ranked 4×800 relay, and the nationally No. 2-ranked distance medley relay.
In January, Archer became the third female athlete from Monroe-New Rochelle to be named NJCAA National Athlete of the week during the indoor season – and the first since 2017.
The South American Youth Games medalist; Joanna Archer, is the latest Guyanese athlete to make it to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) circuit after being accepted to Texas Tech in January on a full scholarship in the coming academic year following her outstanding stint with Monroe College both academically and athletically.
