The Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA), Price Is Right Supermarket T20 cricket Competition for teams in the Upper Corentyne and Black Bush Areas began last Sunday with a number of matches.
The competition is being played on a knock out basis.
Results of matches played saw No.73 Young Warriors defeating No. 52 Survival by 7 wickets. No 52 Survivors 86 with J. King 23 and B. Tulsie 20. Bowling for 73 Young Warriors Lakeram Latchman and B. Bisnauth took 3 wickets each. They replied with 86-7 with Latchman making 33. The wicket takers for the losers were R. Rampertab with 3 and S. Mohan 2.
In their game, No. 72 Cut and Load destroyed Crabwood Creek Bomb Squad by 10 wickets after riddling out the Bomb Squad for 85. The main destroyers for Cut and Load were Ritchie Persaud with 4, while T. Shivamber and N. Alli took 2 each. Cut and Load in reply sped to 86-0 with R. Persaud 39(3×4, 4×6) and R. Semora 35 Not out.
No.72 All Star defeated Crabwood Creek All Family by 6 wickets in their match. All family made 82-7 with Z. Mohammed 23.
Bowling for All Stars P. Gobin and P. Chattergoon took 2 wickets each. In reply All Family reached 86-4 With T. Chatterpaul 24, while Y. Somdat, P. Chatterpaul and A. Harrichand made 22 each.
No.64 Fighting Marines defeated No. 77 Cricket Club by 132 runs after scoring 212-4 in 20 overs. Davendra Budhoo top scored with 98 (7×4, 5×6), Ranga Subhan 67(8×4, 3×6)
No77 in reply were dismissed for 80 as Subhan took 3 wickets and V. Sugrim 2.
In their game No 69 Vikings won from Yakusari Caribs by 8 wickets. Caribs were routed for 81-8 with R. Lalu and A. Ayana making 21 each.
Deen Ramdit picked up 3 wickets while, V. Gonia and R. Balram took 2 each bowling for 69 Vikings who in reply made 82-2 in 12 with Ramdass making 44.
Crabwood Creek Sports Club shut out Darkendz by 9 wickets in their encounter bowling them out for 80. Bowling for CWC Sports Club Lakeram Tomasai 4 and Y. Harilall 3 led the way. CWC Sports Club raced to 81-1 with Naresh Deo 57 (2×4, 8×6).
There was a win for Dukestown Warriors against No.48 Challengers by 5 wickets. No 48 made 129 with Totoram 42, M. Lalu 40 and Balram Samaroo 21. Bowling for the Dukestown Warriors J. Reid took 3 wickets as they replied with 133-5 in 19 overs. Balram Persaud took 2 wickets bowling for the Challengers.
No.70 Spartans defeated Yakusari Horizon by 100 runs. Spartans made 149-4 in 10 with T. Ramjohn 37, Omesh Mathura 29, and T. Ramoutar and A. Persaud 26.
T. Ramsundar took 2 wickets bowling for Horizon who ended on 49-7 with V. Parsram 33. Mathura picked up 4 wickets for the Spartans.
No.68 Turn Team defeated No. 70 MYO by 71 runs after making 205-5 in 20 overs with T. Persaud 79 not out (6×4, 7×6) J. Hoauisiee 58 (4×4, 4×6) and T. Persaud 23.
Bowling for No 70 MYO Alim Khan took 2 wickets who replied with 134 with M. Khan making 26. Bowling for No 68 Turn Team Hoauisiee picked up 3 wickets.
The competition continues today with a number of matches.
Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams as well as outstanding individual performers.
The UCCA is being led by businessman Dennis D’Andrade. The competition is being coordinated by The UCCA competitions committee which is led by former National wicketkeeper batsman Sydney Jackman. (Samuel Whyte)
