DEAR EDITOR,
Kindly allow me to respond to your story published in your 25-2-2020 issue titled: “Time is running out on City Hall – Trust Fund launched to help save historic building”.
Should the blame for the crumbling City Hall be laid squarely on Mr Hamilton Green who served as Mayor for some 25 years? The former Garden City has become a big rubbish dump. Needed repairs have not be carried out on this historic building.
Where was the Chief Engineer, Mr. Colvern Venture, who told Kaieteur News “about the urgency with which the plan to save the iconic structure must be treated.”
Where was he during all these years that he only now seeks to do a study on the building that Kaieteur News highlighted. This is the incompetence that still permeates City Hall. Kaieteur News should be congratulated for this story.
