On a day blessed with brilliant sunshine at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on Carifesta Avenue, day three of the 2020 Milo Schools U-18 football tournament and organised by the Petra Organisation got going yesterday with a triple header.
Annandale secondary beat Bladen Hall in the last game of the day, while Charlestown secondary drew with New Central High in the in day’s curtain raiser before St John’s College drew with Uitvlugt in the second game.
Played before a fair size crowd, Dante Sookram got Charlestown off the mark in the 20th minute and Charlestown maintained their 1-nil lead at half-time.
Garfield Caesar found the back of the net two minutes into the second half to level the score which was 1-all at the stroke of full time in 70-minute match-up.
In the second game in which Uitvlugt enjoyed the bulk of the possession in first half after Junior Redman’s diving header from a corner beat St John’s custodian to his left in the 16th minute to spark on-field celebrations from the West Coast Demerara intuition.
The West side students, dressed in yellow jerseys and blue trucks, continued play and when the referee blew the half time whistle, the score was Uitvlugt 1, St John’s 0.
Playing with the strong Atlantic breeze on his back Anthony Xavier found the back of the with the equaliser 10 minutes before the end of the game but no other goals were scored for the second draw of the day.
In the last game, Tyquan Taylor (6th) and Jerome Horrigan (45th) scored in either halves as Annandale defeated Bladen Hall 2-nil in an all East Coast clash.
The tournament will not be played today due to mash festivities in the City but will continue tomorrow with a triple header at the Ministry of Education ground from noon.
