Yesterday, the Guyana Revenue Authority and the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) formalized their relationship by signing an agreement for
Recognition and Avoidance and Settlement of Disputes at the Department of Labour.
The GPSU is now the recognized union to represent less than half of the workers of the authority.
In all, the tax collection agency has about 1,300 workers.
It will be left up to the union to work to recruit more workers now.
GPSU has been reportedly working for an agreement over a decade now.
At the signing were GRA’s Commissioner-General, Godfrey Statia, President of GPSU, Patrick Yarde, and Chief Labour Officer, Charles Ogle.
