The relatives of the 81-year-old woman who was struck down by a Chinese national on the pedestrian crossing located near the Nigg Post Office on the Corentyne, are yet to receive justice, several weeks after death.
Parvidi Ramcharan, from Albion Front, Corentyne, Berbice died from shock and haemorrhage due to multiple injuries about the body according to an autopsy done on her just three days after the incident. The examination was conducted at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary by Government Pathologist Nehaul Singh.
Kaieteur News was informed by relatives that the police are still awaiting advice from the DPP in the case. As they wait, the driver of the car is roaming the streets freely.
It is understood that the driver with the help of a translator from Georgetown had offered compensation to the relatives but while the amount has not been revealed, Ramcharan’s family are still waiting for the matter to progress so that justice could be served.
Parvidi Ramcharan met her untimely demise after she was hit by a speeding car bearing license plate number PPP 1008 driven by a Chinese national.
Ramcharan was at the time making her way across a pedestrian crossing situated near the Nigg Post Office in Nigg Village. She had just uplifted her pension from the postal office relatives said.
Surveillance footage from a nearby business place showed the elderly woman making her way across the road on the pedestrian crossing when she was hit by the car.
