A disciplined bowling performance from Sohan Ragnandan and a fine half century from former Guyana first-class batsman Azeemul Haniff, led Ogle CC to a seven-wicket victory over Enmore A when the teams collided in the final of the East Coast Cricket Committee/Neville Ramotar T20 final on Sunday last.
Enmore A slipped from 37-1 to be bowled out for 115 in 19.2 overs, batting first at the Enmore Community Centre ground.
Opener Imran Hassan struck two fours and one six a top score of 49, while Rudolph Singh made 32 with one four and two sixes. Left arm spinner Ragnandan finished with 5-19 from 3.2 overs while Anthony Ifill had 2-17 off four overs.
Enmore A struck in the first over to leave Ogle CC on 1-1, in reply, but the experienced Haniff and teenager Andrew Samaroo added 69 for the second wicket to steady the chase nicely. The duo rotated the strike well as they frustrated their opponents with level-headed batting. Haniff stroked four fours and two sixes before he was dismissed with victory very much in sight, for 64, while Samaroo made 23 with one six as Ogle CC ended on 117-3 in 18 overs. Haniff was named Man-of-the-Match. Ogle CC collected a trophy and $75,000, while Enmore A pocketed a trophy and $50,000. Lusignan East took home $20,000 for winning the third place playoff.
