Former president of the Guyana Cricket Board and prominent Accountant Mr. Drubahadur was elected president of the Demerara Cricket Board at its Annual General Meeting held last Saturday at the Wales Community Centre.
The other elected officers are Rohan Sarjoo (Vice President), Anand Sanasie (Vice President), Anil Persaud (Secretary), Sudesh Persaud (Assistant Secretary), Anand Kalladeen (Treasurer), Lancelot Easton (Assistant Treasurer), Lalta Gainda (Marketing Manager), Mansoor Nadir (Public Relations Officer) and Colin Europe (Chairman of Competition’s Committee).
A release from the DCB indicated that the meeting was attended by delegations from West Demerara Cricket Association, East Bank Demerara Cricket Association and East Coast Cricket Board of Control.
“It is hoped that this meeting would bring to an end all the issues at DCB, thereby enabling cricket in Demerara to resume and played in a more organized manner. Despite the many off-field challenges, Cricket in Guyana has done well over the course of six years and credit must be given to the administrators,” the release went on.
The release stated that the Georgetown Cricket Association was aware of the meeting, but did not send a delegation, and further informed that a representative from Linden is now an elected member of the DCB, while Mr. Mansoor Nadir is also an executive of the Georgetown Cricket Association.
