A man who is accused of killing a Jamaican national during April 2015, up the Berbice River, is on trial for murder.
Quacy Walker, of Kimbia, Berbice River, is on trial before Justice Simone Ramlall in the Berbice High Court. He is accused of killing Michael Dillon, a Jamaican national, on April 27, 2015 at Kimbia Creek, Berbice River.
Attorney-at-law Seeta Bishundial is presenting the state’s case while attorney-at-law Charlene Artiga is representing the accused.
The state’s case is that the men were friends and were farmers together in the Kimbia area. The deceased reportedly cultivated marijuana and a kitchen garden.
Dillon was reportedly killed following a robbery. Dillon’s body was found days after he was killed at his camp. He was facing upwards, dressed in a pair of shorts, and his chest had a lot of holes, which appeared to be gunshots. When his body was found, it was badly decomposed and was buried in a shallow grave.
The accused along with some others were reportedly seen leaving the area in a boat. He along with others were arrested and taken into custody.
Testifying so far is Toshao Ecliffe Lindie of Kimbia Village. He found the body and arrested the accused and others and held them in custody until the police arrived. Detective Assistant Superintendent Orin Cameron told the court that he led a party of policemen to the scene of the murder at Itcholoko Creek. A marijuana farm with plants measuring two to six feet in height were found and destroyed.
Also testifying so far were firearm and ammunition expert Corporal Floyd Hosanna and police photographer and Crime Scene Examiner Sergeant Leon George.
The matter is continuing.
