DEAR EDITOR,
More than a week after the end of year holidays, people are still tuned out from politics. Very little interest has been expressed by the population in the elections. Aside from display of party flags and one rally from each major party, one would not know there is an election in seven weeks. It is probably because of the year old political campaign that still has two more months to go.
The people are not extending a party mood. They just don’t have interest in the politics. They have been burnt so many times with false promises that they place very little trust in politicians to honour promises. When asked about the elections, they tend to say it does not matter which of the two behemoths win because their lives won’t change much. They hope that the two political giants can be controlled so they won’t abuse power. Interest in the politics may increase closer to voting day.
Yours truly,
Vishnu Bisram
