A second half double from Jamal Cambridge guided Paradise Football Club (PFC) to a come from behind 3-2 win over Monedderlust in the final of the GT Beer sponsored Candy Boss Antics 8-a-side football competition which concluded on Saturday night last at the All Saints Presbyterian Church Ground, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Cambridge, who ended as the Highest Goal Scorer of the tournament with a total of five (5) came to the rescue of his team which was trailing Monedderlust by two at the half way mark of the contest.
Monedderlust Nord McDonald sent his side ahead in the 30th and four minutes later, teammate Raynol Frank doubled the advantage as they sat comfortably ahead or so they taught with the $600,000 first place prize in sights.
But that was not to be as the second half was all Paradise. Cambridge netted the first of his brace in the 40th minute to halve the deficit with his teammate Nial Reynolds drawing them level in the 48th minute.
The winning goal which had $600,000 written all over it was fired in by Cambridge in the 53rd minute to seal a memorable come from behind win, the top prize, trophy and bragging rights for the next twelve months.
In the third place playoff, Cougars Football needled Hopetown FC thanks to a Dawit Watts 47th minute goal. Paradise also won all the individual prizes, the tournaments Most Valuable Player trophy went to rising midfield star Curtland Richmond who played a pivotal role in his teams success and also scored four (4) goals. The Best Goalkeeper award went to Jawanza Joseph.
