The lifeless body of seven-year-old Kayden Lucas was reportedly pulled from a trench last Thursday.
The child who resided at Lot 74 Rosignol village, West Coast Berbice (WCB) was at a relative’s home located at Fort Wellington, Hosanna Street, West Coast Berbice (WCB) when the incident occurred.
Kaieteur News understands that Kayden was left by his mother, Malaika Lucas, to play in the yard; however, the child picked up his bicycle unknown to his mother and exited the compound.
According to reports, after searching for her son a while later and realising that he is nowhere to be found. Ms. Lucas then sent her younger child to go in search of the lad. It was while searching the area that his sister found his lifeless body in the trench and the bicycle next to him.
After seeing her brother’s body in the trench, the child raised an alarm and persons immediately ran to the scene. The lad was subsequently rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Family members confirmed that the lad was an epileptic and may have suffered a seizure while riding.
Lewis attended the Number 8 Special Needs School and leaves to mourn his mother and three siblings.
