Yesterday as promised Nigel Hinds made good his promise to donate the first prize $700,000 which will be at stake for the Upper Demerara Football Association’s year end football championship, after past sponsors for the past six years, Banks DIH, did not come through for the Christmas tournament.
Faced with the possibility of not having the tournament the UDFA turned to other sponsors for help and businessman Nigel Hinds was one of the major sponsors to come on board.
President of the UDFA Terrence Mitchell was thankful for the honouring of the sponsorship and hopes that others who also pledged would come forward for the grand final tonight.
Hinds was also willing and will ensure the Most Valuable Player walk away with the $200,000 Samsung Galaxy Note 9 for his efforts.
There were other sponsors who indicated interest in their support for which the UDFA is hopeful that they will come through.
Apart from Hinds Financial Services the other main sponsors were the Guyana Football Federation, Rolling Ads, Tropical Reflections, Foreign Links Auto Sales, Guyana Lottery Company, Trophy Stall, and the Guyana Police Force ‘E’ Division.
Other sponsors who were named from Linden included Jermaine and Family, MB Construction, Floyd Melville Construction, Broad Money Car Rental and 20/ 20 Sport Bar, Snooks Variety Store, Sports Plus, Right Care Pharmacy and Fines Jewelry.
