Basketball returned to Berbice under the auspices of the Berbice Basketball Association with the staging of the Nigel Hinds Financial Services Classic First Division championship last weekend with a win for Canje Knights.
Canje knights overcame Rose Hall Town Jammers 68 to 60 points in a keenly contested game on Saturday last at the Vryman Irving court in New Amsterdam. The half time score saw Jammers leading 23 to 22 points.
For Jammers Shamer France topped all scorers with 30 points, Charles Williams supported with 10 points and Kwesi Mickel 8 points. For Canje Knights Tyrone Dey led with 18 points, while Jamol Felix had 11 points and Steve Roopnarine 11 points.
The tournament continues this weekend at Hopetown basketball court starting at 6:00pm with a game featuring Ithaca against Hopetown Stealers.
