ABFC Female Team and Kylie Flames storm to wins on night two
When night two action in the Atkinson Brothers 5-Aside Football Tournament unfolded on Sunday at the Moruca Sports Ground, Atkinson Brothers Female team as well as Kylie Flames recorded wins in the female segment of the tournament.
Atkinson Brothers FC Female side romped to a 3-0 blanking of Rincon United led by a brace of goals from Annalisa Vincent, the other coming off the boot of Samara Rodriguez.
The other female match produced a close tussle between Kylie Flames and All Star Blazer, the former holding their nerve to win, 2-1. Shonett Griffith and Indranie James scored for the winners with All Star Blazer’s lone goal coming from Odessa James.
In the Under-15 match, Raising Sons needled Mighty Warrior, while the Under-17 clash produced a solid 3-0 win for Rincon United over Kyrie Flames. Netting for the winners were Chavez Rodriguez, Shawn Henry, the other an own goal from Naham Atkinson.
In the male segment of the action, Kumaka won in extra time against Park East 2-1, while a similar score line was the result in favour of Kyrie Flames against Kamwatta ‘A’.
First place in the male competition attracts a cash prize of $200,000, while for females, the winning team will pocket, $100,000 and veterans, $50,000. Trophies are at stake for each segment of the competition.
The sponsors are, Atkinson Brothers, Punt Speed Boat Service, Troy Abraham and Family, Aubrey Edward’s and Family, Santa Rosa Village Council, Moruca Sports Council and Ivor Domingo.
The finals are set for Boxing night and will feature Soca Monarch, Brandon Harding along with other artistes.
