Last Saturday evening, Essequibo’s Aurora Knight Riders Cricket Club held its 4th Annual Dinner and Award Ceremony at the popular Gold is Gold Restaurant, Hotel and Fast Food. The event which was one of joy and gratification was well planned and supported by the players and members of the business community.
Players would have received awards based on their performances for the entire 2019. President of the club Mr. Reshad Ally congratulated all the awardees and wished them an even more productive 2020. Mr. Ally told all in attendance that the year 2019 was the most rewarding since the formation of the club in 2010. He lamented that the team’s 84% victories reflected the discipline and positive attitude of the players. According to Ally, the team which is currently competing in the South/Central Essequibo T/20 cricket competition would have completed the many off field activities; all for the benefit of the community at large.
Meanwhile, well known cricket coach Mr. Forbes Daniels was honoured by the club for his outstanding contribution towards the development of youth cricketers in the region. Daniels, who would have nurtured the talents of some of Essequibo’ top cricketers such as Anthony and Akenie Adams, Norman and Norwayne Fredricks, Joel Fortune, Orlando Jailall among many others, was high in praise for the club and expressed words of gratitude for being recognised.
In addition, Aurora’s own Mr. Awaaz Ali was also honoured for his massive contribution towards the club and humanity in general.
The event was sponsored by Timure’s Speedboat Service, Jojo’s Mechanical Workshop, Mr. Awaaz Ali and Gold is Gold Restaurant, Hotel and Fast Food.
