KSM Investments has partnered with the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) for the staging of its annual Boxing Day meet which is set for Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.

At a simple ceremony held on Friday last at KSM Investments office, Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, Directors Arvind Panchu and Shanta Panchu presented the first place trophy and sponsorship cheque to President of the KMTC Cecil Kennard.
The sponsorship will cover J and K Lower event which covers a distance of seven furlongs and carries a top prize of $200,000, with the runner up taking home $100,000, third place $50,000 and fourth place $25,000.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kennard expressed gratitude to KSM Investments for their input. “This is the third year they have been supporting the club, not only for this meet but for other meets as well, and we very much appreciate their contribution,” he added. Kennard noted the importance of sponsorship in staging successful sporting events.
The company’s CEO Mahadeo Panchu stated that sport is a unifying force in Guyana. “I am amazed at the crowd that turned out to witness the races and we recognise the importance of sports more so horseracing especially in the Corentyne area,” he said.
“We intend to continue to support the club in a much bigger way. It depends on the growth of our economy which can result in the growth of our business.”
He said that Kennard must be commended for his efforts in organising the event, adding that he needs support. The races will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
