DEAR EDITOR,
The carnage on our roads is because of either ignorance or disrespect or both by road users:
Here are a few examples:
1) At intersections between what is known as major roads and secondary roads motorists do not stop to allow vehicles on the major roads to pass, they are in the habit of either driving half-way onto the major road causing oncoming traffic to stop to allow them to continue driving or they simply drive non-stop over onto the other side of the road. THERE IS NEED TO PLACE STOP SIGNS OR TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR MORE SPEED BUMPS at those intersections to put an end to this nonsense by the ROAD BULLIES!
2) At similar intersections, some irresponsible motorists, without due regard to traffic moving in an opposite direction, stop in the box which indicates that no vehicle is to stop there. THE BOXES (prohibition signs) ARE THERE TO ALLOW FOR THE SMOOTH, UNHINDERED FLOW OF TRAFFIC.
3) Motorists at the afore said intersections do not stop to look left nor right for oncoming traffic, instead they turn immediately without stopping onto the road causing road accidents. MORE SLEEPING POLICEMEN/HUMPS ARE NEEDED AT THESE INTERSECTIONS TO ENSURE THAT MOTORISTS STOP BEFORE PROCEEDING STRAIGHT AHEAD OR TO TURN ONTO A MAIN ROAD;
4) Speeding continues to be the major hazard and reasons for accidents on our roads. PASSENGERS IN MINI-BUSES MUST DEMAND DRIVERS TO SLOW DOWN!
5) Few motorists are aware of what is known as the 5 C’s: CARE, COURTESY, CONSIDERATION, CAUTION, COMMON SENSE, if they are aware of these 5 C’s then they either ignore it or disrespect other road users. THEY ARE ROAD BULLIES!
