Shiva Boys’ Hindu College, Lodge, DC Caesar Fox Sec. and Annai Sec. clash tonight
The semifinal round for the second annual KFC Goodwill football tournament, being promoted by the Petra Organisation would be contested tonight under floodlights at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on Carifesta Avenue starting at 17:00hrs.
The defending champions, Shiva Boys’ Hindu College of Trinidad & Tobago, looks in ominous form and they will seeking to continue their 100% record since the first championship last year, today, when they face Lodge Secondary in the feature match at 19:00hrs.
Lodge Secondary, champions of the just concluded Guyoil/Tradewind Tankers Schools’ under-18 league will be desperate to show that the local school teams can compete against the likes of T&T’s 2017 first division school league champions with an upset.
If Lodge Secondary are to get past the Trinidadians they will be hoping that their Captain and target man; Dorwin George, continues his prolific goal scoring form which helped them to usurp Annandale Secondary as the local school league champions.
In the opening game, DC Caesar Fox Secondary; popularly known as Waramadong, of region seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) will match skills with another out of City team, Annai Secondary of region nine (Upper Takatu – Upper Essequibo) in a potentially mouthwatering encounter.Waramadong, in their debut season in the competition which has been pledged by the organisers to get bigger and better each year, are unbeaten heading into today’s semifinals but they will find a good competitor in Annai that laid on a 9-1 thrashing on Annandale Secondary that is not a usually easy opponent to get past. So, sparks are expected to fly in this knockout game tonight.
Based on form, Waramdong and the defending champions, Shiva Boys’ should ascend to Sunday’s final that is also scheduled for the MOE ground but both opposing teams are capable of making upsets on any given day. (Calvin Chapman)
