As if to prove that its victory at the Guyana Cup Horserace meet was no fluke, Lucky Star did it again to take the feature B and lower event at the Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC) Horserace Meet which was held at the club’s entity, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice.
Lucky Star, running out of the Cheefoon Stables with Jockey Colin Ross in the saddles, once again showed its opponents that it is a force to be reckoned with as it whipped the field for a gate to pole win in a dominant display.
Challenged briefly during the race the animal picked up speed down the homestretch to blow away the field in the 1600M event. The win was worth $600,000 and trophy compliments of Banks DIH Limited. Running in second was the much fancied Don’t Overlook with T and T placing third and Just call Me Boss fourth.
The H and lower event saw Silver N Things of the Cheefoon Stable with Colin Ross in the saddles making it two wins for the connections of that entity as it out dueled Santa Cruz Lady to win the $300,000 and trophy on offer. Goodwill Boy ran in third ahead of Storm Dancer in fourth.
Perfect Storm had a good day as it ran away winner in the event for 2-year-old animals to take home the $240,000 and trophy. The animal won the 12-horse event from Perfect Pleasure who came in second, and Perfect Dream was third with Awesome Bandit fourth.
Touch D Cash did not only touch the cash but ran away winner in the K and L class event from Cherish Me, Massapequa Doctor and Perfect Return.
L Non-Winners’ event was won by Rickey with Call She Royal second, TP 360 third and Awesome Again fourth.
The Cheefoon Stable was adjudged the champion stable with Jockey Colin Ross the champion jockey.
Among the sponsors on board were Banks DIH Limited and Nand Persaud and Company Limited.
