All systems are in place and an action pack day of racing is anticipated when the Port Mourant Turf Club stages their grand one day horserace meet at the Club’s facility at Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice.
Over 60 horses have been entered for the day’s action which has over $4M in cash trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
A top notch field has been assembled for the feature event which is for horses classified ‘B’ and Lower over 1600M for a winning purse of $600,000 and trophy. Among the lot are Don’t over Look, Just Call Me Boss, T and T, Chamelli, Goodwill Boy, Lucky Star and Kentucky Woman.
The race for animals classified G3 and lower will see the animals racing over 1600M for a winner’s purse of $300,000 and trophy.
The likes of Santa Crush Crus Lady, Not This time, Silver and Things, Miss Olympic, Storm Dancer and Absolution are in the line of for the H and lower event for 2019 non-winners over 1000M for a winner’s take of $300,000 and trophy.
There is a race for ‘two-year-old maiden Guyana-bred’ horses over 1000M for a winning purse of $240,000 and trophy.
A field of 14 horses has been entered for the J and lower and 2-year-old Guyana-bred horse 1300M contest. Perfect Pleasure, Fresh Cash, Big Three, General Quarter and Flash The Cash will be looking to cash in on the see $240,000 and trophy available.
Animals classified K and lower will run over a distance of 1200M for a winner’s prize of $140,000 and trophy.
The L class animals will be running over a distance of 1500M with the winner getting $120,000 and trophy.
Non winners in the L class category will have their chance as they compete over 1300M for a first prize of $100,000 and trophy.
A number of sponsors are on board including Banks DIH, Jagdeo Construction, Jumbo Jet, Kascon Construction, Rajendra Jagdeo, Mahesh Narayan Racing stable, Trophy Stall, Randi Persaud Racing Stable, Darmindra Dharamjit Racing stable, Kamo Rice Farmer, Anil Mechanic Works and Sunil Tickaram of the USA.
