Fruta Conquerors turned in another flawless performance in their final first round match of the GFF-Always Championship Cup 2019, trouncing Foxy Ladies of Den Amstel 7-0 in yesterday’s feature match at the GFF National Training Facility, Providence, East Bank Demerara.
The opening match of the morning’s double header produced a goalless draw between Lady Panthers and Santos Football Club.
It was another dominating display by the Fruta Ladies as they recorded their fourth win in as many matches, following up on their 10-0 hammering of Santos, 8-0 whipping of the Guyana Police Force and 5-0 triumph over Lady Panthers FC.
Captain Lakeisha Pearson led the demolition act yesterday with a hat-trick, taking her overall tally to seven (7). The Captain was well supported by forward Tiandi Smith who also tapped in a pair which has now taken her personal tally to ten (10) in the league.
The Foxy Ladies were almost flawless in the first half as they kept the Fruta girls at bay, letting in a single goal which was scored by Pearson in the 17th minute.
However, as the minutes ticked away, the more experienced Conquerors ladies kept the pressure on their opponents which they could not have handled, allowing Conquerors to hit the target on six unanswered occasions which has taken the team’s tally in the competition to thirty (30) goals without conceding any.
Pearson completed her hat-trick when she found the back of the nets in the 55th and 57th minutes, Smith tapped in her two in the 50th and 52nd minutes, while the other goals were scored by Jimmaica Hunte (32nd) and Abioce Heywood in the 45th minute; Heywood now has six (6) goals in the league.
Meanwhile, second round action will commence today when Fruta Conquerors take on Lady Panthers in the feature clash of the day from 11:3Ohrs. The final first round match commences at 10:00hrs between Foxy Ladies and Santos.
