DEAR EDITOR,
For approximately three weeks now I have noticed a cow, which I believe had been impounded, in the Den Amstel Police Station yard.
Throughout this period it has been tethered in one section of the yard at the side of the station. It has been there although all the grass in the area that can be accessed by the cow has been consumed by now, and despite the prevailing inclement weather.
It is obvious to anyone who is passing by on the road in front of the station that the cow’s condition has deteriorated and it is noticeably thinner and weaker.
I am appealing for this cow to be given better care, while urging that steps be taken to resolve the matter so it could be returned expeditiously to its home. I am hoping that all animals will be treated humanely while in custody at any station.
