During a simple but significant ceremony yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground, Tiger Rentals became the latest company to support the second annual KFC Schools’ Uunder-18 Goodwill Football tourney which kicks off tomorrow.
Tigers Rentals, the local branch of Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) based Tiger Tanks brand will also support defending champions, T&T’s Shiva Boys’ Hindu College that will return to Guyana.
Operations Manager of the local arm Shane Singh, during the press briefing yesterday commented: “We (Tiger Rentals) want to express our heartfelt gratitude. We are pleased to be on board and we love being implicated in the nurturing of young talent. Tournaments like the KFC goodwill tournament have enabled the company to understand the importance of team work.”
Petra Organisaton, the promoters of the event, through Co-Director Troy Mendonca in his opening remarks posited that, “The Petra organization is very ambitious with this tournament. The tournament is in its embryo stages and in a few years from now, we want to see a plethora of teams from across the region here to participate.”
USL Montjoly out of French Guiana was set to make their debut in this edition but it was disclosed at yesterday’s brief that they will not be able to participate, “Due to the unavailability of managerial personnel.”
Marian Academy, which finished third in the just concluded Guyoil/Tradewind Tankers Under-18 School League, is the replacement team.
