Guyanese Damani David in record breaking 13-19 age group & overall winning performance
Multi talented Guyanese athlete 14 year-old Damani David who resides in the Bahamas has continued to turn in encouraging performances. At the recently concluded Bahamas Half Marathon 5K, David not on won the 13-19 age-group in a record breaking 19 minutes 59 seconds, he ended as the top athlete of 171 competitors.
David’s age group attracted 13 athletes and he was one of the three 14 year-olds in the line-up. Second was 15 year-old Jayden Wright in 20:53 with the third and fourth places going to 17 year-old Ralph Wood (21:28) and 16 year-old Richard Hardy (22.54), respectively.
The event was organised by the Bahamas Road Masters and held in Nassau with over 500 persons participating across the events.
Meanwhile, David also competed at the BAISS swimming championships where he copped first place in the 13-14 50 SC Meter Backstroke in 33.41. He placed fourth in the 13-14 50 SC Meter Butterfly (30.68) and was seventh in the 13-14 100 SC Meter IM (1:14.88).
