The World Energy Capital Assembly, an anchor event on the industry calendar, brings together the oil and gas and finance and investment worlds and senior executives to discuss emerging and re-emerging energy investment opportunities, to review deals done.
The two-day event kicked off with an opening plenary titled ‘Taking the Pulse of the Industry in 2019 and Giving Insight to 2020 and Beyond’.
According to TOTALTEC, which has operations in Guyana, subsequent topics included the role of Environment, Social, and (corporate) Governance (ESG) in the future of the industry, insights into the technological innovations disrupting the future of the oil and gas industry (in particular digital), and a number on attitudes of the financial markets to investing in oil and gas.
The scale of ExxonMobil discoveries in Guyana and pace of ramping up activity to first oil, expected in the next few weeks, made it clear the country would be of strong interest to the assembly, said TOTALTEC in a statement.
Lars Mangal, said, “Being asked to participate in this conference validates the work we are doing in Guyana through our partnerships and the International Petroleum and Maritime Academy (IPMA).
There was considerable discussion on the environment, and the importance of the industry working to positively contribute to addressing climate change and other environmental concerns in the countries where it operates. Guyana is an ideal partner for operators to put these green objectives and plans into action.”
WECA includes eight awards in various categories, with TOTALTEC nominated as a finalist for the service company of the year.
The three other finalists are three major oilfield service companies operating in Guyana; Schlumberger, TechnipFMC, and SBM Offshore.
Mangal explained: “To be a finalist and considered within this group of four is an honor, and highlights the focus of the awards on companies at the forefront of the industry in regions having exploration and development success.”
TOTALTEC Oilfield Services said it is focused on the success of the oil industry in Guyana for the benefit the country, its people, and partner companies.
Examples are Guyana Shore Base Inc. providing support to offshore operations and Jaguar Oilfield Services offering a complete range of lifting equipment and inspection services.
