2018 Champs Northern Rangers came out on top on Friday night against Timehri Panthers in the lone match of the evening in the 2019 Turbo Energy Drink knockout football tournament at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground at Carifesta Avenue.
Tevin Fowler, Tevin Bowen, Colin Clarke and Keith Caines and Wendell St. Hill were on target for Northern Rangers in their 6-5 win against Timehri Panthers on Friday night.
The defending champions edged Panthers 6-5 in the clash that had 10 different goal scorers. Scoring for the city side were Tevin Fowler, Tevin Bowen, Colun Clarke and Keith Caines with one goal each, while Wendell St. Hill came to his team’s rescue with two late goals in the 85th and 87th minutes after they were trailing 5-4 with five minutes to go in the match.
On target for Timehri were Shannon Samnauth, Oliver Denny, Jared Walcott, Travis Thornhill and Trek Walcott.
The feature match of the evening did not kick off and was rescheduled to a date that will be decided by the organisers.
The winning team of the 2019 Turbo Knockout tournament will receive 400,000. Second place will pocket $200,000, while third and fourth will receive $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
