Following five days of exciting play, the 15th Diamond Mineral Water (DMW) Indoor International hockey tournament will see the curtains fall this evening with the semifinals and finals in the three divisions set to be completed.
After yesterday’s play, George United of Trinidad &Tobago leads the ExxonMobil Women’s division after winning all four of their group games and they will clash with Saints in the first women’s semifinal today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) that is the host venue for the entire event.
GBTI Tigers that have a record nine titles in the women’s division, will match skills with their sister side GBTI GCC Spartans in the second semifinal.
In the Lucozade veterans’ over35, Defending champions YMCA Old Fort will cross sticks with Bounty GCC Vintage in the first semifinal, while Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) of T&T will play Fatima in the second semifinal.
Defending men’s champion Pepsi Hikers will play Bounty GCC in the first Diamond Mineral Water semifinal, while QPCC will play Trinidad & Tobago Defence Force. Fans will be licking their lips at the very realistic prospect of having a QPCC versus Hikers final for the third consecutive year in the men’s final.
The winners’ of the respective open finals will pocket us$1000, while the runners up will receive us$500 each. The veterans’ champions will receive us$500.
