Popular businessman Brian Tiwari birth anniversary 9-a-side Inter-Ward football Tournament is set to conclude today, at the Leonora Track & Field Centre, and an exciting evening of football is anticipated as the teams slug it out for the attractive prizes on offer.
The tournament, which has been organized by former national coach Lennox Arthur, saw twenty-four teams from all across the country compete for prize monies and trophies worth in excess of $300,000.
The winning team will receive $200,000 and the Bradley Gabriel Trophy, while second, third and fourth place finishers will take home $100,000 and the Kane Gabriel Trophy, $60,000 and $40,000 respectively.
Arthur offering a brief comment on the businessman said that he has always been forthcoming in his support for sports and has in the past repeatedly reached out to the sport of football.
Among the teams that were invited to participate in the tournament were Casa Coima FC out of Venezuela and GT Kanaimas originally out of Kamarang in Region 7.
Arthur added that the two teams had expressed an interest in competing in the competition and so far they’ve given a good account of themselves.
Among some of the players on show include Jamal Harvey, Trayon Bobb, Delon Lanferman and Tyrone Khan representing their various teams as they all hunt to get into the money round.
The fixtures are as follows:
Wales vs. Soesdyke
Gaza vs. Plaisance
Hurry Ate vs. Pouderoyen
Den Amstel Kings vs. Timehri
Den Amstel vs. Crane
West Side Spartans vs. Casa Corina FC
These first set of matches will be followed by the quarterfinals, semi-finals and then the grand finale.
Apart from the expected presence of Tiwari, a number of dignitaries will also be present to celebrate the businessman’s birthday.
