The Berbice Chess Association (BCA) has secured sponsorship for another Open Chess competition this Sunday 1st December in Berbice. The Association will be staging the R. Sookraj and Sons Outback Adventures Open Rapid Chess competition.
The one day tournament which will be played at the University Of Guyana, Berbice Campus, (UGBC), Tain Core

ntyne, Berbice and is expected to see all the top Chess players in the country participating.
The competition will be played for seven rounds using the Swiss System format with each player being allotted 20 minutes per game. Registration begins at 09:00 hrs with play set to commence at 10:00hrs.
Cash, trophies and other incentives will be presented to the top players all compliments of the R. Sookraj and Sons Outback Adventure Tourist Resort.
The R. Sookraj and Sons General Stores in New Amsterdam and its Outback Adventure Resort in Betsy Ground, East Canje are prominent fixtures in Berbice.
The recently opened Outback Adventures Resort has a swimming pool that caters for adults and kids. The resort offers a number of activities including swimming classes, catering services and caters for both adults and children. The Sookraj Business conglomerate is known for their benevolence in a wide cross section of activities. The sponsorship of the Chess Competition is just a continuation of such largess.
Yesterday Harvedra Sookraj Operations Manager of the R. Sookraj and Sons Outback Adventure of Betsy Ground East Canje presented the sponsorship cheque for the tournament to President of the BCA Krishnanand Raghunandan and Vice President Steve Leung at the Outback Adventures Resort.
