PMTC retained senior competition with GTCPM emerging as junior winners
The seventh edition of the Annual Balram Shane senior Inter Club Volleyball Competition organised by the Berbice Volleyball Association was held on Sunday last at the Albion Community Centre Hard Court.

Six teams participated in the days competition which saw play in both the senior and junior categories.
There were four senior teams and two in the junior category. The four senior teams were Port Mourant Training center (PMTC), No. 52 Survivors, Black Bush and Rollers of New Amsterdam. The junior teams were Rollers and Guysuco Training center Port Mourant (GTCPM).
The senior teams were first involved in a round robin playoff with the two top teams being Rollers and PMTC. They then contested the final with defending champions PMTC winning 2-0, the scores were 25-21, 25-16.
They took away the coveted Balram Shane trophy and $20,000 while Rollers received the second place trophy and $10,000. No52 Survivors received the third place trophy and $5,000.
The junior category saw GTCPM defeating Rollers 2-0, the results being 25-16 and 25- 15. They took home $10,000 for the win with Rollers collected $ 5,000 for placing second.
In his comments, sponsor Deonarine Balram thanked the BVA for organising the competition and congratulated the winners. He also thanked the teams that participated and expressed his intention to abort the tournament. However, after some persuasion it was decided that the Albion Community Centre along with other favourable relatives and well-wishers will continue the activity. Mr. Balram will still inject his input.
He also expressed thanks to all who supported the venture over the years in making it the success it has been so far.
The Balram Shane cricket and volleyball competition is played annually. It is sponsored by Rose Hall Town Business man Deonarine Balram of the Balram Shane General Store. In Memory of his father Balram Shane The cricket competition has been played for over 20 years. Albion won for the 15th time this year.
