Fans witnessed two gritty wins by Pouderoyen FC and Buxton Stars respectively when the 2019 Turbo Energy Drink knockout football tournament continued at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on Carifesta Avenue on Sunday night last with a double header.
Pouderoyen got past Pele FC 2-0 in the feature match of the night. Both goals were scored in the first half; a strike from Stephen Jupiter in the 7th minute, while Sean Taylor turned one into his own net in the 15th minute.
In the opener, the Stars needled Camptown with their Captain Jumanci Mayor leading from the front with the winner in the 35th minute.
First round action in the tournament continues tonight with another double-header featuring Uitvlugt against Buxton under-20 at 19:00hrs and GFC versus Mahaica Determinators at 21:00hrs at the same MOE venue.
The winning team of the tournament will receive $400,000. Second place will pocket $200,000, while third and fourth will receive $100,000 and $50,000 respectively. The promotion is sponsored by Guyana Beverages Inc.
