Play in the Brian Tiwari birth anniversary 9-a-side Inter-Ward football Tournament is set to conclude on Sunday at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground starting 4:00pm. The competition is set to be explosive with the home teams gunning to keep the prize money on the Westside.
The tournament has been organized by former national coach Lennox Arthur and it’s down to the final 12 teams following action last weekend. Seven of those teams come from the West Demerara area and they are set to represent well. Two Georgetown and one each from East Bank and the Venezuela lads are all set to play to get into the money round of the tournament in honour of the businessman.
The first prize is $200,000 and the Bradley Gabriel trophy, while second, third and fourth place finishers will take home $100,000 and the Kane Gabriel trophy, $60,000 and $40,000 respectively.
The winners of the opening salvo of games starting at 4:00pm on Sunday will advance to the respective quarters and semis then the final and third place playoff.
