Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) number one ranked team Guyana will play Grenada next month in a three-match goodwill series at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH). This information was divulged yesterday afternoon during a press brief by the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) at Palm Court on Main Street.
Head Coach Junior Hercules(left) and President of the GABF, Mike Singh during yesterday’s press brief at Palm Court.
Representing the GABF was President Mike Singh and Head coach, Junior Hercules, who is also the technical director of the GABF. Guyana will host 16 players from the Grenada side that will be visiting for the very first time, while the local training squad will consist of 20 players.
Hercules explained during the launch that this friendly series is a precursor to the 2020 CBC Championships where Guyana will be defending their title won last year in Suriname. Singh noted that since a host country has not been selected, Guyana will be bidding to host the championship.
No overseas based players will not make up the Guyana (97th world ranked) team including skipper Stanton Rose for the three-match series against the 117th ranked Grenada with the exception of BVI based Ray Victor.
