David Granger, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, is saddened to learn of the death of veteran medical doctor and friend, Dr. Carl Alton Hanoman, CCH. Dr. Hanoman died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
A statement from the Department of Public Information stated that undoubtedly, Dr. Hanoman would have served his profession and fellow Guyanese with distinction. It is for this reason that he was conferred with the Cacique’s Crown of Honour in 2016 for his long, dedicated and outstanding work in the medical field, the statement added.
Additionally, he served in the National Assembly as a Member of Parliament, on the Guyana Medical Association, and at the University of Guyana as the Director of the School of Medicine. Hanoman also played an integral role in its accreditation.
He also sat on the Advisory Council on the Committee for the Prerogative of Mercy and was the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The statement said that President Granger expressed heartfelt sympathy to Hanoman’s wife, Leontine, his children Carlin, Harry, Hans, and Carl ‘Max’ Hanoman Junior, other relatives and friends.
