Briton John continues his good form this year when he defeated a competitive field to win the inaugural A. Ally’s and Sons Memorial 50-mile Cycle
Briton John is all smiles as he receives his winning prize from a representative of the A. Ally Store as race officials looks on.
John rejoices as he wins a close race from Andre ‘Padlock’ Green, Walter Grant-Stuart and Kemuel Moses.
Race which was held on Sunday in Berbice.
The event which was sponsored by the Management and family of the A. Ally and Sons Stores in memory of the founder birthday was organised by the Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC).
The riders pedaled off from in front of the New Amsterdam Super Store before proceeding to in front of the Nand Persaud Business Complex at No 36 Village, Corentyne and back to finish at its place of origin.
John was able to nose ahead after a spirited battle with three other cyclists to win in a time of two hours, 12 minutes and 36 seconds. Finishing second was Andre ‘Padlock’ Green with Walter Grant-Stuart third and Kemuel Moses fourth.
The other top finishers in the Open category were: finishing fifth was Marcus Keiler with Berbice riders Andrew Hicks, Ajay Gopilall, Ralph Seenarine, Balram Narine and Mario Washington occupying the sixth to tenth spots.
Seenarine was the top Novice cyclist on show with Washington second, Jason Sampson third, Donovan Fraser fourth.
The winner of the 12-14 category was Aaron Rajnarine with Shazim Yakub and Ravikhan Mootoo the others that placed.

Seenarine was awarded for being the top cyclist of the FACC. Veteran rider Daniel Rigby received a special prize for being the oldest cyclist to participate in the event.
The prime point prizes were taken by Keiler with three, Deeraj Garbaran taking two, while there was one apiece for Narine, Green and Junior Niles.
The organisers thanked the cyclists for participating, while expressing special congratulations to the winners. The cyclists were adequately rewarded.
CEO Fizal Ally expressed the wish to make it an annual event and even bigger in the future.
The store, which was a regular and major sponsored of cycling events, had stopped for a while.
