Under the theme “Kick out Breast Cancer! Keep Women in the Game”, the annual charity football competition which was contested on Sunday last at GFC ground was geared towards bringing awareness to the fight against breast cancer. For the past two years the organisers staged the futsal version, however, this year they tried the full field and it was an overwhelming success.
The match results are; Game 1: Kanaima Ladies 3 vs 0 Santos Ladies; scorer for Kanaima: Patsy Walker -3.
Game 2: Botafago Ladies (Linden) 0 vs 2 Fruta Conquerors Ladies; scorers for Fruta: Latesha Sutherland -1 and Shanic Thornhill-1.
Game 3: U20 Santos 3 vs 0 GFC- scorers for Santos: Ronel Peters-1 Randy Roberts-1 and Deron Niles-1.
Game 4: Ladies Final: Kanaima Ladies 1 vs 1 Fruta Ladies; scorer for Kanaima: June Edmund and for Fruta Shamya Daniel in regular time. Kanaima won on PKs 5-4.
Game 5: GFF Staff 3 vs 2 Wales Masters; Scorers for GFF: Orvil Daniels – 2, Guest player – 1. Scorers for Wales: Delon Layne-1 and Ota Jones-1
Game 6: Masters Over 40 -Paris FC (French Guiana) 7 vs 3 GT Masters (Guyana); scorers for St Paris (French Guiana): Anthony Abrams-4, Roy Cohtout-1, Vigil Glosgo-1 and Yardy Jones-1.
Scorers for GT Masters: Gerald Whittington-1, Anthony Stanton-1 and Calvin Pitt-1.
Game 7: GT U 20 Combine 0 vs 1 Dwain Dungin Jacobs Combine; Scorer for Dungin Jacobs: Shemar Fraser-1
The organisation has expressed gratitude to the Guyana Cancer Foundation and Cancer Institute of Guyana and its sponsors who came on board to make this event possible.
