Troy Wright, Coach of St. Agnes, had a premonition that this year’s Courts Peewee football title was going to be lifted
by his team for the first time after a string of consistent performances throughout the years and he was proven right after his team outplayed Genesis Primary in their needling win in last night’s final which was played at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground.
The game started at 17:00hrs and after the score was locked at nil all at full time despite St. Agnes creating dangerous play after play, it wasn’t until five minutes into extra time that tournament MVP Darius Chester fired a low shot across Sundyah Grandison; who was awarded best goalkeeper of the tournament, to give St. Agnes the deserved victory.
Coach Wright, who has many sessions working with his team at Parade ground, shared with Kaieteur Sport that he knew once his team played
normal and stick to the basics, their victory was certain.
In the third place playoff, Soesdyke Primary defeated Tucville by a similar 1-0 fashion with the lone goal being netted in the ninth minute of extra time by Jaden Tascher.
Jamal Fraser of 2018 Champions St. Pius scored the most goals in the tournament; a tally of 18, himself along with Grandison and Chester, received an android tablet each for their standout performances in the eight edition of the tournament.
