According to the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Guyana (WCCIG), it will assist its women business owners (members) to meet international standards and become certified.
The newly established chamber argued that women benefit equitably from procurement opportunities from major purchasing entities and certified minority and women suppliers.
All members will include women that reflect diversity in ethnicity, industry and business stages, the statement said.
The launch of WCCIG will be held on November 21, at 6pm in the Grand Savannah Suite, Pegasus Hotel.
“There is need for a collective voice, to assist women to achieve success and economic independence through business ownership and self-employment,” WCCIG stated.
The chamber advocates in promoting equal and fair business opportunities by fostering an environment that nurtures the growth of women-owned businesses in Guyana.
The President of WCCIG, Kerensa Gravesande-Bart stated: “As the inaugural President of WCCIG, I am extremely grateful and proud to carry forth and execute the vision of our co-creator founder, Mrs. Lyndell Danzie-Black ,a treasure in our country, who has done so much for all women and this year we are already working closer with her to propel the inaugural WCCIG to its full potential.
She said that the idea is to harness the members’ economic power in the country and improve the lives of women while stimulating their socio-economic growth.
“Our number one goal is to work together in harmony to advance the agenda of women empowerment economically and socially. I believe that real empowerment of women would be possible only through education, encouragement of economic self-dependence, easy access to growth capital and provision of opportunities enabling the unfolding of one’s full potential.”
The WCCIG’s Board of Directors consist of seven directors.
It includes Kerri Gravesande-Bart – Chief Executive Officer, Strategic Recruitment Solutions Inc; Lyndell Danzie-Black – Managing Director Cerulean Inc; Renata Exeter – Chief Executive Officer, GUYOIL; Anjie Lambert – Managing Director/Researcher, Professional Development Consultants; Sherry Ann Dixon – International Motivational Speaker/Journalist; Tamara Khan – Attorney-at-Law and Jennifer Cipriani – Managing Director, ACME Marketing Consultancy.
Guyana’s first Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established and founded by Lyndell Danzie-Black and Kerensa Gravesande-Bart in June 2019.
