In light of Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited’s announced closure, and the unavailability of electronic banking systems and services from October 31 – to November 3, 2019 GTT has opted to further promote its MMG service. In so doing the telephone company has remind customers that its MMG wallet is an alternative transaction option during the bank’s scheduled upgrade exercise.
In a statement the company guaranteed customers that funds held within its MMG wallet can be accessed at any GTT retail location. “We know many persons may not feel secure moving around a lot of cash in light of the bank’s closure during that period, and we thought it best to remind the public of the safety and ease of the MMG platform,” Public Relations Manager, Jasmin Harris said.
“Customers will be able to deposit any amount of money in their wallets and withdraw at any time during the period without having to stand in the lines. They will also be able to pay any utility bill from the comfort of their homes, and make purchases at established merchant agents available at many locations throughout Guyana,” Harris reminded.
Earlier this month, Republic Bank Guyana advised of the Migration to the New Banking System and shared the schedule of closure and service unavailability. The Bank’s offices will resume normal hours of business on Monday, November 4, 2019.
According to Republic Bank, the exercise is necessary to enhance its customers’ banking experience.
