In the Thursday edition of this newspaper an article was published with the headline: “Only one funeral home equipped to store decomposed bodies – parlours need separate compartments to store remains”. It has however come to the attention of this newspaper that the article contained some inaccuracies.
The article should have stated that along with the Lyken Funeral Home, the Suddie Funeral Home in Region Two, Ezekiel Funeral Home in Region Three, Memorial Garden Funeral Home, Sandy’s Funeral Home and the Arokium Funeral Home in Region Six are also equipped to handle and store decomposed human remains.
All of the parlours listed had to acquire a license to offer such a service. If the parlours do not meet the required standards listed by the Environmental Health Department of the Public Health Ministry, or they fail to pass the annual inspection, their license can be revoked.
This publication regrets the misinformation that was published and apologises to all who were affected.
