A businessman of 14 New Street, Cumberland, East Canje yesterday morning arrived at his place of business to find it broken into and ransacked.
Roy Sarjoo told reporters that he arrived around 7:00 am yesterday to open his shop for the day when he noticed that the door to the shop was wide open. “When I came, I noticed this door wrenched open and the concrete by the door was broken up.”
Sarjoo stated that oil jars, food items and household materials were stolen from the shop and upon further checks, he averaged over $300,000 in shop items stolen.
Sarjoo stated that a few days ago, a few young men were in front his premises hurling expletives at him, but he is unsure if those men may be connected to the crime. No one has been arrested.
Just over a year ago, the said business place was broken into. Several persons were hauled before the court and charged for that incident.
