Off-spinner Richie Looknauth grabbed seven wickets to guide Cornelia Ida to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Christ Ambassador when play in the West Demerara Cricket Association Beacon Café 50-over competition continued on Sunday last.
Playing at Belle Vue, Christ Ambassador took first knock and were skittled for 49 in 10.5 overs. Selwyn John made 18 as Looknauth bagged 7-15 off 5.5 overs. Cornelia Ida responded with 50-2 in five overs. Khemraj Ramsundar made 27 with five fours.
Mc Gill Super Stars defeated All Youths ‘B’ by five wickets at The Okoo Cricket ground in Canal Number One. All Youths ‘B’ won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 111 all out in 33 overs.
Abid Haniff made 49 with eight fours while Krishna Ramjewan contributed 16; Diquan Murray captured 4-19 and Ganesh Puran 3-12. Mc Gill Super Star SC responded with 115-5 in 12.1 overs.
Ganesh Puran made 21 not out with three fours and one six while Sudesh Persaud got 16 not out, Abdul Razack 15 and Travis Persaud 13. Tamesh Persaud claimed 4-43.
At Windsor Forest, the home team beat New Windsor CC by four wickets. Batting first, New Windsor CC were bowled out for 104 in 21 overs. Chris Rajpat made 47 including four fours and four sixes while Ramesh Thakur and Ravindranauth Persaud scored 20 each.
Avinash Ganesh bagged 5 for 17, Deendyal Guyadeen 2 for 13 and Lalta Suknanan 2 for 17. Windsor Forest ‘A’ responded with 105 for 6 in 20.1 overs. Avinash Ganesh scored 46 not out which included two fours and three sixes while Kellon Tracy got 17. Chris Rajpat had 3 for 12 and Vishnu Sew 2 for 21.
At Joe Vieira Park, Independence ‘A’ beat Belle Vue by eight wickets. Belle Vue took first knock and made 155 all out in 33.5 overs. Vishal Raghunath, Krishna Singh and Kerwin Bennett scored 27 each as Ceenauth Bisessar bagged 4-1 from three overs and Reaz Esau 3-34.
Independence ‘A’ replied with 156-2 in 15 overs. Ricky sergeant slammed 77 not out while Beepaul Bandoo stroked 34 and Vivian Beckles 24 not out.
