Ahead of this Sunday’s race day, more sponsors have joined hands with the organisers for the Nand Persaud and Company, Mega One Day Sprint Classic Horse Race Meet. Apart from main sponsors, Beverage giants Banks DIH Limited and Trophy Stall, other sponsors that have come forward are Poonai Pharmacy, NTN Television Station, M. Rahim (Rice Farmer), Businessman Cyril Singh, Rice Farmer N. Roopnarine the NPG Packaging and Plastics Inc. as well as a number of subsidiaries of the Nand Persaud Group of Company Limited.
The event which is promoted by the Sky Plus Inc. Promotion Group will be held at the Company’s Racing Facility, No. 36 Village, Macedonia Estate, Corentyne, Berbice. Over 30 horses have been entered so far for the event.
Seven races are listed with prize monies totaling over $4M cash, trophies and other incentives. Races will be contested over 880 and 660 yards. The feature event for horses classified G3 and Lower has some of the top animals lined up to go such as the inform TNT, Golden Dancer and Not This Time battling over 880 yards for a winning purse of $225,000 and trophy.
There is a race for H3 Maiden and Guyana Bred Open animals. The Guyana Bred 2 year-old Maiden event will see Flash the Cash, Dazzling Girl and Awesome Bandit among others running.
The race for animals classified J and Lower has the likes of Uprising King, Awesome Banner and Plane Land in contention. There is an event for L Class Open horses where Pikachu and The Rock have been entered to date. There will be an event for L Class none winners.
There will also be a special race for those horses that did not place in the two L Class races. Champion Jockey, Trainer and Stable will all be rewarded with trophies and other incentives compliments of the Mr. Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall.
