Four centuries were scored and three bowlers captured five-wicket hauls in the five matches played yesterday in the GCA’s NBS 40-over second Division Cricket tournament while the match between Transport Sports Club and Police was not played since another event was held at the Eve Leary ground.
At Everest a NBS record of three tons in the same innings was achieved as Everest trio of Richie Looknauth (135 from 93 – 10×4 5×6), Amir Khan (100 from 66 balls – 10×4 5×6) and Renaldo Renee (104* from 68 balls – 9×4 4×6) powered Everest to a record 387-4 off 40 overs.
Sophia were bowled for 63 in 18.4 overs, Dwayne Perriera had 5-35, Khan took 2-1 and Javed Rasheed captured 2-4 as Everest won by 324 runs.
At Queen’s College – Ace Warriors beat GNIC by 86 runs after Ace Warriors aided by 57 extras and a sloppy display in the field, were all out 213. Nkosi White (33), Mortland Ward (27) and Gopaul Ramgobin (24) got starts as Jeremiah Benjamin (3-32) and Trevon Jones (3-58) bowled well for GNIC who fell for 127 in 20 overs.
Jason George (47) and Sheldon Chapman (28*) offered token resistance, Devendra Lall (4-13) and Ward (3-33) bowled their team to victory.
At DCC – Bel Air Rubis made 97 in 27.1 overs with Joey Shingorbin (29) and Devendra Bhisham (23) offering fight as leg spinner Steven Sankar (4-18), Daniel Mootoo (3-3) and Ashmead Nedd (2-20) did the damage with the ball for DCC who reached 98-6 to win by four wickets. Jahron Bryan (24) and Sachin Singh (23) led the way for DCC.
At MYO – the host beat GYO by 134 runs after Khemraj Ramdeen’s unbeaten 112, 33 from Rodolph Singh, 39 from Timour Mohammed and 28 from Sarfras Esau lead MYO to 278-9.
Left-arm spinner Trevon France captured three wickets while Devish Ramjattan and Joshua Ramsammy had two wickets each for GYO who were bowled out for 144 despite 36 each from Tyrone Liverpool and Ramsammy. Christopher Surat had 6-39 while Shafiek Ishmael took two wickets.
At MSC – Diplomats, playing with just nine members, reached 85-8 innings closed, Nkosi Barker picked up 4-13, Marvin Permaul (2-23) and Diquan Murray (2-23). The home team replied with 86-1 to win by nine wickets, Stephon Browne finished unbeaten on 48 while Judal McAlister (22) was the only batsman dismissed.
The match began 30 minutes late due to late preparation of the pitch and the game was reduced to 35 over per side.
At Bourda, medium pacer Carlos Larose ripped Third Class to shreds with 6-6 and got support from Stephon Wilson who took 4-6 as the visitors fell for a record low 15 runs before GCC reached 22 without loss in 2.1 overs.
The other scheduled game at Police was not played and the competition continues today with Transport playing Sophia at the Transport Sports Club ground, MYO facing Diplomats at QC and Police opposing DCC at Eve Leary.
