The quiet village of Cotton Tree is expected to come alive today from 13:00hrs when the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) hosts the first of five finals for the Let’s Bet Sports 100 Balls Cricket Tournament.
The first final would be for the West Berbice League while the others would be for Upper Corentyne, Lower Corentyne, New Amsterdam/Canje and the overall Berbice championship.
Powerhouse D’Edward Cricket Club along with their neighbor Cotton Tree Cricket Club along with Blairmont Cricket Club have dominated the second division level on the West Coast of Berbice and the final is expected to be close with both teams possessing talented players.
D’Edward CC would be led by the veteran Jaipaul Heeralall and he would be supported in the batting department by Keith Fraser, Altaf Khan, Heeralall Bridgelall and Devindra Lalsa.
The bowling attack would be spearheaded by pacers Christian France, Ricky Moore, Keith Fraser while spinners Hoolsram Lalsa and Heralall Bridgelall would offer support.
Cotton Tree would depend heavily on Roshan Gafoor, Waqar Hassan, Narshad Gafoor, Nick Ramsaroop, Poooran Persaud and Daniel Harrinarine. BCB President Hilbert Foster, Let’s Bet Sports Brand Manager Ian De Barose and Brand Ambassador Rawle Toney would hand over prizes after the match.
D’Edward: Heralall Bridgelall, Altaf Khan, Devindra Lalsa, Hoolsram Lalsa, Ricky Moore, Keith Fraser, Navin Rampersaud, Devindra Singh, Mahadeo Persaud, Dinnauth Persaud, Chaitram France, Christian France.
